Video not Showing up on Mobile / BG Video vs. Layer Video
This article covers why your video may not be showing up or playing on mobile devices.And also explains the difference between adding a video as a Main Background vs. adding it as a Content Layer.
With Slider Revolution, there are two ways that video can be added to a slide:
When a video is added as the slide's main background:
- The video will always autoplay on desktop computers
- The video will never have any user-controls
- The video will not autoplay on mobile devices (mobile devices don’t allow this)
- The video can not be played manually on mobile devices
- The video’s “Cover Image” will always be shown instead of the video
But fear not, as Video Content Layer is here to save the day!
When a video is added as a Content Layer:
- The video CAN BE played manually on mobile devices
- The video will ALWAYS show up on mobile devices
Additional information to help you decide what's best for your site:
- A video can be “Full Width” for both options.
- When added as the slide’s main background, all other Content Layers will always exist on top of the video.
- When added as a content layer, the video layer’s z-index can be changed.
- Why can't video ever autoplay on mobile?
Mobile devices don't allow this unfortunately, as it's a restriction they've added in an attempt to save battery life. But the moment this restriction is lifted, we'll be on the case!
